Starting now:
Collaboratively create a 40-60 min music based performance that gives expression to our regions experience of a changing climate – with the aim for it be included in the opening proceedings of the summit to an audience of world leaders.
4 songs composed for public participation will form the thematic narrative backbone of the 40-60 min work and community engagement process.
Release each of the songs yearly in the lead up to 2026 along with educational packages and other resources and events to build community engagement.
A dedicated live stream of the conductor will be used to synchronize the multi-location events. Streaming technology will also be used to connect the many local events with each other and beam back to the central performance for world leaders.
COP31 – 2026
At the summit, a central performance with a live Symphony Orchestra will be augmented by international and regional sound worlds, including non-orchestral instruments and a massed choir incorporating children’s voices and soloists from many cultures.
Image projection, movement and real life soundscapes are envisioned as part of the piece.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Think Global Act Local! Restricting the work to just one hour allows each participating group to connect with its own community, and to present its own performances and talks prior to the simultaneous performance at the summit.
The work itself will be a shining example of cooperation, shared vision and partnership, which is just what we’re also asking of our world leaders.
All parts of the process should be a living embodiment of sustainable practice.
Overall we are looking for grand narratives that people globally can connect with, narratives that speak to the shift we’re all trying to make from a ‘mankind’ to an ‘earthkind’ way of thinking and being, enhanced by stories of lived experience and cultural richness our region has to offer.
